How to set up Flixtele on Android TV
Android TV, Google TV, the Nvidia Shield and the countless Android boxes share the same system underneath, so one set of instructions covers them all. It is the most flexible TV platform here: the Play Store stocks several capable players, and whatever it lacks can be sideloaded. The Shield in particular chews through 4K without complaint.

Android TV Installation
Allow Unknown Sources
Only required when sideloading. Go to Settings > Device Preferences > Security & Restrictions > Unknown Sources and enable it for the app you will install from — Downloader or a file manager. Installing a player from the Play Store? Skip this entirely.
Install Flixtele or a Player
Flixtele is not on the Play Store, so fetch the APK from our Downloads page via the Downloader app or a USB stick. For a Play Store player, IPTV Smarters Pro, TiviMate and XCIPTV are all built for a remote rather than a touchscreen — which matters more than it sounds, because a phone app on a television is truly unpleasant to navigate.
Open the App & Login
Launch the app from the home row. On Flixtele, enter the username and password from your subscription email. On another player, choose "Xtream Codes API" and add the server URL, username and password. If the app was designed for phones, a mouse-toggle utility makes the on-screen keyboard far less painful for this one step.
Set the Buffer for Your Connection
Most TV players expose a buffer size. Raising it trades a second or two at channel change for far fewer mid-stream interruptions — a good deal on Wi-Fi. Lower it again if you are wired and want instant zapping.
Enjoy on the Big Screen
Channels, guide and on-demand content load automatically. Pin the app to the home row so it sits one press away, and build a favourites list — scrolling tens of thousands of channels with a directional pad is not something to do twice.

Common problems
Fixes specific to Android TV
The app installs but never appears on the home screen
Android TV hides apps not built for it. Look under Settings > Apps > See all apps, open it from there once, and use a sideload launcher if you want it pinned permanently.
The remote cannot reach some buttons
A phone app is being displayed on a television. Install a mouse-toggle utility for a movable pointer, or switch to a player designed for Android TV such as TiviMate.
4K stutters on an Android box but not on a Shield
Budget boxes often claim 4K they cannot truly decode. Force 1080p in the player, or set the system output to 1080p — a clean Full HD picture beats a 4K one shedding frames.
